Dopo una lunga saga di Rhythm Game, Activision tenta l'azzardo di lanciare una nuova moda, basta con chitarre, batterie e microfoni, è arrivata l'era della console!! Approda così Dj Hero sugli scaffali di tutto il mondo pronto a mettere alla prova il Dj che è in voi, siete pronti alla sfida?
Accendi la console:
DJ Hero ti getta sulla console di un vero DJ e cerca di ricreare l'esperienza nel miglior modo possibile. Il gioco dà al videogiocatore la possibilità di miscelare canzoni, effettuare "cross fading", scratchare il disco e molto altro. Molto simile a Guitar Hero e ad ogni altro gioco di musica, le note scendono dalla parte superiore dello schermo verso il basso; è necessario premere il tasto corrispondente al momento opportuno, se si perde la nota, la pista sarà fade out per qualche secondo o fino a quando si colpisce una nota corretta di nuovo sulla stessa pista. In ogni remix ci sono tre brani che corrispondono alle tre note, se toccati trasmettono il suo della traccia e mescolano le canzoni mentre si sta giocando, la riga a sinistra è la prima canzone, quella al centro è la seconda e il mezzo è entrambe le piste. Quando si avvia il cross fading out una traccia viene portata indietro di qualche seconda per ripartire in remix. Due brani per fare un suono armonico unico.
Alza i bassi e regola gli alti:
In DJ Hero ci sono due tipi di scratch da poter fare sulla console, il primo è un freestyle dove si possono colpire a qualsiasi velocità le note e l'altro più complesso prevede di beccare in maniera più precisa la nota muovendo il piatto verso l'alto o il basso, questo è fatto volutamente in un senso o nell'altro per dare uno stile diverso, un altro suono o un riavvolgimento rapido. Come accennato in precedenza, due tracce stanno suonando allo stesso tempo ed è il lavoro del DJ quello di fonderle in un unico suono. Per cambiare tra la prima e la seconda traccia è necessario utilizzare il cursore cross fader a sinistra per selezionare il primo brano o verso destra per la seconda traccia. Se il cursore è lasciato a metà, entrambi i brani saranno in uscita contemporaneamente consigliando al giocatore quando muoverlo per dare un effetto di dissolvenza. Più è alta la difficoltà maggiore sarà il movimento da fare con il cursore, questo rende così difficile nelle canzoni fare una combo più duratura per azionare il Rewind. Il punto esatto della traccia dove è necessario muovere il cursore verso destra o sinistra viene chiamato 'Sweet Spot'. Se si gioca ad una difficoltà di livello Difficile o Esperto ci sono anche Sweet Spot Fade che non necessitano di passare da un altro brano e quindi bisogna mantenere il fade sulla stessa traccia, ma bisogna fare movimenti molto veloci da una traccia all'altra.
Prepara le tracce house:
Ci sono anche alcune sezioni che fanno uso del quadrante Effetti per rendere i volumi di qualsiasi traccia che si sta giocando fade in e out. Questo è in sostanza l'equivalente del wah wah-bar con la chitarra di Guitar Hero ed esegue quasi gli stessi suoni. Durante alcune sezioni di mezzo (brano blended di entrambe le canzoni), ci saranno zone campione di freestyle che si può premere il tasto di mezzo per dare un tocco personale alla canzone. Con la manopola Effects è possibile scegliere suoni campione che si desidera ripetere nella traccia (come ad esempio rumori laser, o la voce Flava Flav per esempio, ce sono molti altri tra cui scegliere). Con una combo abbastanza lunga il moltiplicatore da la possibilità di avere un Rewind che può essere utilizzato in qualsiasi momento si desidera per far tornare indietro il brano di circa 10 secondi come un replay di sezione della traccia molto simile allo stile di alcuni DJ. Per utilizzare il Rewind è sufficiente girare il giradischi di circa 360 gradi. Ci vuole un pò di tempo per imparare a girare velocemente e dove fermare la registrazione senza guardare il giradischi in sé, ma con un pò di esercizio diventerà come una routine che farà impressionare i vostri amici. La versione dello start power di DJ Hero si chiama Euphoria e si ottiene esattamente allo stesso modo di Guitar Hero, basta colpire correttamente, graffiare ed effettuare dissolvenze incrociate ad ogni nota all'interno delle tracce del remix. Possono essere memorizzate fino a 3 tacche di Euphoria.
Inizia a remixare:
Il Multiplayer può essere fatto sia in system link che su Xbox Live e ci sono anche alcune modalità diverse come DJ vs DJ e DJ vs chitarra. La tracklist di DJ Hero arriva quasi a 100 canzoni. I Generi delle tracce si alternano tra Electronica, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, R & B e altro ancora. DJ Hero non sarebbe fedele al suo nome, se non avrebbe anche personaggi che impersonifichino un vero DJ collegato alla console, che è il motivo per cui il gioco ha tracce reali e DJ come Jazzy Jeff, DJ AM, DJ Shadow, Grandmaster Flash e anche Daft Punk. Andando avanti nel gioco, completando tutte le canzoni si guadagnano stelle (fino a cinque per ogni canzone) con cui si ha la possibilità di sbloccare personaggi, accessori, luoghi, vestiti e altro ancora.
Tutti con le mani al cielo:
Nei negozi troverete disponibile DJ Hero in edizione standard in una scatola di modeste dimensioni e un'edizione Renegade in una scatola molto più pesante e più grande che sembra una scatola di kit che ricorda molto Rock Band. La differenza di prezzo è molta infatti una costa 109.99 e l'altra 199.99 €. Le differenze della Renegade Edition sta nell'estetica della console, di un nero metallico come le finiture, piuttosto che il grigio della versione standard e tutti i cursori e le manopole sono rifiniti in un oro veramente di stile. È incluso anche nella confezione un esclusivo pack musicale di JAY-Z e Eminem con un sacco di canzoni aggiuntive. La ragione per cui la scatola è così enorme rispetto alla edizione normale è perché tutto viene fornito in una custodia per il vostro giradischi. Un'altra diversità è che sotto la console ci sono 4 gambe che sono regolabili e possono essere utilizzate come un DJ stand.
